Pray Without Ceasing

I am reminded constantly for the need to pray and talk with the Saviour, who makes intercession for me to the Father. The bible tells us to "pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17. God loves for us to commune with Him. My husband tells me that God does not want our leftovers, he doesn't want to be second in our lives; he wants first place.

Prayer is time spent with God. There is no one right way or place to pray. You can pray sitting down, standing up, or lying in bed. You can pray before you eat or sleep, at the beginning of the day or at the end. You can pray moment by moment as you work or play, or as you stand in line at the supermarket.

You may shout your prayer, whisper it, or commune with God in absolute silence. You may put it to music and sing it, or write it in a private journal. Any time, anywhere, for any reason, it is appropriate to pray.

We may not spend all our time on our knees, but it is possible to have a prayerful attitude at all times. This attitude is built upon acknowledging our dependence on God, realizing his presence within us, and determining to obey him fully.
