Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23 says, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." A wellspring out of which many things flow.

King Solomon, who authored the book of Proverbs and was one of the wisest men on earth, tells us to guard our heart above all else, making sure we concentrate on those desires that will keep us on the right path of life.

You are near and dear to God, the Creator, who loves you more than you can imagine. God wants the best for you and He wants for you to guard your heart.

Our heart --- our feelings of love and desire --- dictates to a great extent how we live because we always find time time to do what we enjoy.

Make sure your affections push you into the right direction. Put boundaries on your desires: don't go after everything you see. Look straight ahead, keep your eyes on your goal. Don't get sidetracked on detours that lead to sin.

Today, the world will offer your countless opportunities to let your guard down, and by doing so, let the devil do his worst. Be watchful and obedient.

In Luke 6:45, it states "the good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart. The evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart, his mouth speaks." What is in your heart will come out in your speech.

Thought for Today: Guard your heart by giving it to your Heavenly Father; it is safe with Him.
