The Word is How We Stay Connected to God

I won't study the Word of God; I won't go to church to hear the Word of God; I don't need the Word of God; I won't pray the Word of God; I won't worship the Word of God; I won't sing the Word of God. Why not! Because we are so arrogrant and think we don't need God, the Creator who made us. All these negatives keep us from the spiritual blessings God has for us.

The only thing that connects God with his creation is His Word. Let us look to His Word and see what it says:

In the book of John 1:1-2, it says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made." All things were made through God!

We are God's creation and we connect with God in our worship, our prayers, our devotions, our study, through His Word.

Disobedience to the Word of God gets us out of favor with God. So when we think God's Word does not matter, go back to the Bible, the inspired Word of God, given to men whom God inspired to write it.

In the book of Genesis 1:1-2 , it says that God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. God's Spirit hover over the waters. This is the presence of the Holy Spirit seen right here.

Our whole existence, or being, is wrapped up in the Creator, who created us for His purposes and His plan, and He desires to communicate with us through His Word.

Let's look at the book of Genesis 2:7 again where it says, "the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Man didn't create himself. God breathe life into man and man became a living being. Since God is a spirit and He breath life into man through his nostrils, we are also spiritual beings. Our existence is a spiritual one, not an earthy existence!

Now if you don't read the Word of God, you actually think that your mother and father were responsible for your existence. They were only God's instrument by which you were born. Just as God used Mary as his instrument to give birth to His son, Jesus Christ. This is how the Word became flesh. (John 1:14)

In Genesis 1:27 it states that "so God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." We were created in His image, and His image is holy. God created us to be holy beings!

Again, I repeat that the only thing that connects us with the Creator, God, is His Word.

Thought for Today: Spend time in the Word of God so that God can communicate with you.
